Microdermabrasionis a progressive, noninvasive procedure for skin resurfacing. Its purpose is to exfoliate and remove a layer of dead cells from the epidermis. The cellular regeneration process causes an increase in fibroblast activity and tissue oxygenation.
Microdermabrasion works by encouraging cells to renew the basal layer of the epidermis and promote the production of collagen and elastin. As a result, it plumps up the skin and gives the skin a much younger appearance. The procedure is painless, and successful in dramatically reducing, if not totally removing the appearance of small scars, stretch marks, large pores, and hyper pigmented spots. In some cases it can even be used in the treatment of old acne scars.

More information about Microdermabrasion
The first microdermabrasion with corundum crystals was used by Dr. Othello Ginnebri in 1986. By 1993, cosmetic clinics all over Europe started using these crystals for microdermabrasion, but we didn’t see it in North America till 1998. Corundum crystals are aluminum oxide crystals that are manufactured in a medical laboratory to have a fine texture and a specific shape. This medical grade corundum is made with specific properties in mind. Their use is completely safe and nontoxic. Our S.T. peel machine for microdermabrasion also uses corundum crystals.
Additional benefits of microdermabrasion are as follows: reduce the signs of aging, fine lines, sun damage, dehydration, and in mature skin, loss of elasticity. This procedure helps to rebalance oily and asphyxiated skin too. It also reduces sebaceous micro cysts, and acne breakouts. Furthermore, microdermabrasion can minimize enlarged pores, comedons, blackheads, and superficial acne scars.
*Due to the nature of the biology behind this technique, one treatment is insufficient to attain great results. For maximum benefit, we suggest 6 to 8 treatments at 8 to 15 day intervals.
